Tropical indoor display cabinet: designing a setup

A living-room display cabinet is a growing space to design around light, ventilation, access and water management. It is not the same as a technical tent or garden greenhouse.

Start with the plants and dimensions

Decide which species, how many pots, the height of the foliage and the space for each level. Allow access for watering, cleaning and handling. The needs of tropical plants cannot all be reduced to one humidity level or temperature.

Light, ventilation and water

Compare plant lights against the available height. Read the humidity measurement guide before selecting a humidifier. Check ventilation and climate equipment for the intended use.

A closed space needs monitoring; it does not automatically become stable. Check condensation, ventilation and cables against the conditions permitted in the instructions. An LED produces heat and does not manage the climate by itself.

The mini-greenhouse guide covers small volumes and propagation. The guide to a home project helps plan a structure and understand its limits. A grow tent should not be presented as a decorative display cabinet without explaining the different uses.
