Installing a grow light for plants: a step-by-step guide
This guide covers installing a lighting setup you have already chosen. To compare formats and choose a light, start with the reference guide to plant lighting.
Before installation
Read the guide to understanding and choosing grow lighting, then gather the fixture, its compatible accessories and the instructions. Measure the support, height and cable route. Do not assume screws, a socket or a timer are included: check the product page.
Install in order
- Disconnect the power before working and follow the instructions.
- Prepare a stable mount suitable for the equipment’s weight.
- Position the light to cover the intended area without touching the foliage.
- Keep connections away from watering areas as required by the permitted conditions.
- Set the prescribed distance and schedule; check for glare from within the room.
- Record your settings and recheck the installation after moving the pots.
Observe and adjust
Plant height changes, so check the distance again as the foliage grows. New scorching, local drying or an area with poor coverage calls for a mounting check. The distance guide supports this follow-up. Find product details in the plant lights category.
